About Ashleigh Buhari and the #1 Online Casino South Africa
For a small country, RSA surprises on many fronts. We know how to develop a killer online casino for South Africa… and we churn out championship golfers like clockwork! The latest majors winner is Ashleigh Buhai – and she joins a stellar cast of homegrown pros.
Why Our Online Casino South Africa is Also a Winner
We all agree that Ashleigh Buhai has singlehandedly lifted the mood of the nation. The 33-year-old Johannesburg-born and raised LPGA pro won the 2022 Women’s Open in a sudden death playoff. Her victory was as much a testament to mental acuity as it was about fine stroke play.
Buhai, who turned professional at just 18 years of age, racked up the 26th majors win for a South African in the Open era. That is some doing, considering only England, Scotland and the USA have bettered us on the men’s side of the game.
That is an introductory overview of our golfing prowess. Now to our award-winning online casino South Africa. For those of you who are not signed up members of Springbok Casino, here is what you are missing.
As the leading online casino South Africa, we offer on-demand gaming across multiple channels. What that basically means is this. Our patrons have any time access to a mobile casino, instant play platform, Android app and downloadable software… all through the same login credentials.

Right, that is the online casino South Africa factor taken care of. Now back to the subject at hand, our brand-new golfing superstar in the form of Ashleigh Buhai…
About Ashleigh Buhai
Buhai knew she wanted to become a golf professional from as young as seven years of age. During her amateur years she shattered countless records. She was the youngest player ever to win the SA Amateur double and the first player in over a century to win the SA Open three times.
After turning pro, she won her third event, to become the youngest European Tour winner in history. After racking up 12 tour wins, Buhai finished fifth in the 2019 Women’s British Open. That was her best result in a major… until just a few weeks ago.
In the gloom of Muirfield, Buhai had a deserved breakthrough, beating Korean Chum Gee in a sudden death playoff. It wasn’t plain sailing for the South African. She started the final day five strokes ahead but a triple bogey on the 15th left her tied with Gee at the end of the round.
Despite the fading light, Buhai managed to keep her nerve and par the fourth hole of the playoff. That was enough to clinch the trophy and the $1,095,000 prize. That is a cool R17,786,796.75 at current conversion rates!
Now, Ashleigh Buhai is eyeing the 2023 season with a lot more confidence. Can she win back-to-back majors? We’ll have to wait for the Chevron Championship, the first of the five majors scheduled for next year!
South African Majors Winners
In the ladies’ game, Ashley Buhai joins two-time majors’ winner, Sally Little and Women’s British Open winner, Alison Sheard. The three are the only South African women to have won a major championship.
The same cannot be said for the men’s game. As of 1949, South Africans have won 22 majors to bag the fourth highest tally in the world. The great Gary Player contributed a record nine titles – three Masters, three Open Championships, two PGA Championships and one US Open.
Bobby Locke and Ernie Els bagged four titles apiece. Retief Goosen won the US Open twice and Trevor Immelman, Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel added one title to the total tally, respectively. As of 2022, it has been precisely 10 years since a local boy claimed the kudos.
With many of our existing majors’ winners migrating to the LIV Golf Tour, it is now up to the young guns to continue the fine tradition. Players like Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Erik Van Rooyen, Garrick Higgo and Dean Burmeister have more than enough pedigree to challenge the best golfers in the world… and win!
In the meantime, you are invited to enjoy riveting entertainment at our star-rated online casino for South Africa. All you have to do is register an account online, deposit funds into said account and play. It is as easy as that!
