Bok Fever Remedy: Play Online Casino Games at Springbok!
With the Rugby World Cup 2023 in full swing, there’s something South Africans are running hot with fever… It’s not an illness, per se… Oh, jinne, it’s worse! It’s Bok Fever, and it’s gripping the nation. While we can’t give you your daily dose of rugga (turn to SuperSport or SABC for that), we can provide a bit of a distraction in the form of online casino games!
Before we continue, remember that we’re dressed in green and gold ourselves, so we fully appreciate the seriousness of Bok Fever. Admittedly, we are suffering too – but it’s good to have a balance. While our boys aren’t playing every single day, and we all eagerly await the next match, why not join us at Springbok Casino in solidarity.
Gaming Action on the Green of a Different Kind
We also can’t give you front row seats at the green turf in Stade de France, yet we have plenty of fun that awaits on our virtual green felt. Whether you prefer cards, dice, or wheels, or balls – we have online casino games of every lekker flava.
What’s more is you can play for fun or for real money and enjoy the thrill of winning from the comfort of your home. Not to mention our generous bonuses and promotions to boost your bankroll and extend your gaming time!
Play Quick Blackjack Matches
If you’re mal for the fast-paced action on the RWC turf, you’ll love our blackjack variants. Blackjack is a super popular game that offers riveting entertainment and blistering speed. It’s easy to learn, fun to play, and offers a low house edge if you use optimal strategy.
At Springbok Casino, you can choose from three different versions of blackjack: Blackjack, Blackjack + Perfect Pairs, and Suit ‘Em Up Blackjack.
Our regular Blackjack is based on the classic game variant where you try to beat the dealer by getting as close to 21 as possible. Going over would be the equivalent of kicking outside of the goalposts on a penalty. Not good. The rules are player friendly as the dealer must hit on soft 17. You also get to split Aces, double on any two cards and blackjack pays 3:2.
Blackjack + Perfect Pairs adds an optional side bet that pays out if your first two cards are a pair. The payout depends on the type of pair: mixed pairs pay 6 to 1, coloured pairs pay 12 to 1, and perfect pairs (same suit) pay 25 to 1.
Suit ‘Em Up Blackjack also features an optional side bet that pays out if your first two cards are of the same suit. The payout varies depending on the rank of the cards: suited aces pay 60 to 1, suited blackjack pays 10 to 1, suited pair pays 5 to 1, suited eleven pays 3 to 1, and any other suited cards pay 2 to 1.
These online casino games are perfect for quick matches that can keep you entertained between rugby games. You can also test your skills and strategy against the dealer and see if you can score a blackjack or a perfect pair while we wait for the Bokke to score that winning try!
Bet on the Green & Spin the Ball in Roulette!
If you prefer like games where chance rather than your personal fitness levels is put to test, then roulette might be your cup of rooibos. Roulette is one of the oldest and most iconic online casino games – and it’s still a favourite among many players. The game involves betting on where a ball will land on a spinning wheel with numbered pockets. You can bet on a single number, a range of numbers, a colour (red or black), or an odd or even number.
At Springbok Casino, you can play European Roulette, which can be found under the Specialty Games menu. European Roulette has a single zero pocket, which gives it a lower house edge than American Roulette, which has two zeros. It also has an oval shaped racetrack that allows you to place special bets such as Voisins du Zero, Orphans, tiers, and Tiers du Cylindre.
Roulette is a game of luck, but it also offers a lot of excitement and suspense. You never know where the ball will land, and every spin is a new opportunity to win big. It’s a great game to play on the green felt during halftime and in-between Bok matches!
Defy the Odds with Poker
A game that is perhaps closest to rugga must be poker. No balls are involved, but it requires skill and strategy to rake in those wins. Battling your way to the top in this card game means betting on the strength of your hand and bluffing your opponents.
There are many online casino games in the poker genre, but at Springbok Casino, we offer three Caribbean-themed versions: Caribbean Hold’Em, Caribbean Stud, and Caribbean Draw. In the case of all three variations, winning comes down to the best five-card poker hand.
Caribbean Hold’Em is similar to Texas Hold’Em – except that you play against the dealer instead of other players. You get two cards face up and the dealer gets two cards face down. Then five community cards are dealt face up on the table. You can either fold or raise after seeing your cards and after seeing the first three community cards (the flop).
Caribbean Stud is similar to Caribbean Hold’Em, bar the fact that there are no community cards. You get five cards face up and the dealer gets five cards with only one face up. You can either fold or raise after seeing your cards. The dealer must have at least ace-king or higher to qualify.
Caribbean Draw is similar to Caribbean Stud, except that you can exchange up to two cards from your hand for new ones after seeing your cards. You can either fold or raise after exchanging your cards. The dealer must have at least ace-king or higher to qualify.
All three online casino games have progressive jackpots that can be won by placing an optional side bet and getting a royal flush. The jackpot increases with every bet placed by players across the network until someone hits it. There is currently over R250,000 per game up for grabs!
Other Ways to Curb Bok Fever
While the metaphorical contagion that’s spreading like a bushfire isn’t deadly – unlike the one featured in the 2011 drama/thriller starring Matt Damon, Kate Winslett and Jude Law – it is having other negative effects. According to Hugo Pienaar from Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr, Bok Fever it is going to affect overall productivity in the workplace. Here are tips to help you stay on track during the RWC 2023:
- Watch match reviews on YouTube after non-essential games (where the Bokke aren’t playing)
- Pin the Live Score of a match via Google on your phone when you’re at work and unable to watch
- Raise the green and gold flag at home and wear your jersey to work to keep the Bok spirit with you
- If the Bokke are playing and it’s a workday, watch the game live on the office TV but work late to make up for it!
- Play online casino games as a distraction and to relax and unwind. We know the RWC can get stressful
While we wait for our boys to go for gold and bring home the trophy for the fourth time, enjoy a lekker, safe and responsible Rugby World Cup. Remember, Springbok Casino – and our online casino games – is only a click or tap away to keep you company!
